Hung, also take a look at the MACD Histogram Divergence kit. This kit can also accept any alternative oscillator to the MACDH, although after much testing the MACDH has proven to work best for me. jose '-)

Hi Jose, Thank you very much for your quick reply! I think I have the answer that I was looking for now. I'am a beginner if it comes with programming but I will learn it eventually! Are you a professional trader or an active experienced trader?! Best Regards, Hung

Hung, I've traded in the ASX stock market for a number of years - this is my trading record. Currently I'm researching suitable trading strategies with a view to applying them to the forex markets, and with the eventual aim to trade/manage a small fund if possible. In the meantime, I'm happy to help others help themselves. ;) jose '-)

Hi Jose, How are you doing?! Sorry for my late reply but I still want to thank you for all your help and support! It's very kind of you and I really appriciate it! I think I can learn a lot from you so I hope you don't mind if I keep asking you some questions?! I just like to learn almost everything about trading and become a succesfull trader myself oneday! I will check your track record/site(s)! I do have some other question. Do you use/know the NH-NL (New High-New Low) indicator. What do you think about this "leading" indicator for the market cause Dr. A. Elder thinks it's (one of) the best leading indicators around. And do you know how I can make such an NH-NL indicator?! Do you know the formulae of the NH-NL indicator for MetaStock for indexes like the dutch AEX-index and the S&P500?! Hope to hear from you soon! Cheers, Hung

Hung, the NH-NL indicator requires external data, as found here for the ASX market. My experience with market new Highs/Lows is that they are not a leading indicator of market direction, but possibly some sort of confirmation. jose '-)

Firstly, let's just say that leading indicators are highly overrated - markets often refuse to follow leading indicators. ;) A leading indicator is one that turns before price, and by definition, most technical analysis which is based on lagging indicators doesn't qualify. My favourite leading indicators are based on external data, such as Advancers/Decliners/TRIN for the stock markets, and CoT data with seasonal tendencies for futures. If I had to choose an all-purpose leading indicator based on price alone, it would be MACDH divergence coupled with custom price patterns such as well-designed pivots. As for trading successfully, it is more than just a full-time occupation - its a way of life. For me it's an all-or-nothing deal. Trading professionally involves a 100% commitment that I can't fully give at the moment, but one which I hope to be able to return to in 2006. jose '-)

Hi Jose, Thank you for your comments. I still have to program the MACD divergence. Lately I'm quite busy so little time for programming it. I don't know much about Pivots, I just use chanels/envelops to determine stop and exitpoints. Are Pivots better?! What are you currently doing?! Are you still trading or working fulltime?! Cause I see a lot of potential if I see you talk about trading! Best Regards, Hung

Jose, What do you mean by: "This kit can also accept any alternative oscillator to the MACDH, ........."(I'm sorry for having to cut and paste I dont know how to do the little boxes with the previous post).Does this mean that you could do maybe divergences on other oscillators as well(cci, rsi, etc.) with the kit ?How easy is it to do?Do you need coding experience?Out of the two kits I kind of like this. Thanks in advance,Ralph

Hey Ralph- Select 'Post Reply', NOT 'Quick Reply'. Then paste the text into the message body. It will be highlighted. Press the button that says "Quote"- the button is located under the subject line. This will wrap your pasted text in a quote metatag. That'll do it. You can try some test posts in chit-chat if you want to play around with that.

Yes, the MACDH Divergence kit can accept any indicator/oscillator/data to measure divergence against price. I personally prefer using the MACDH to any other oscillator. The programming involved to replaced the default MACDH in the kit is minimal - I've set out all code to allow any changes inside 5 minutes. In any case, my help is also available if required. One new kit function that I'm really excited about, is the ability to realistically backtest trading systems using custom risk-normalized, annualized profit indicators and explorations - which can also be used for non-kit strategies. These profit indicators can compare systems' performance directly against totally different systems with very different risk profiles. More specific details on this in Feb's MSTT's part 1 of the upcoming RSC article. jose '-)
