I'm taking baby steps here, so please bear with me :? I would like to run a simple query against the entire database that takes any set of stock prices at a Date 1 and determines the % chg from Date 2 and then sort desc by largest % gainers. For example, who are the largest % gainers in 2004, 2003, or 2002? I can't seem to find even this basic information anywhere (forget about the value of such a query for now). In this example, the output ideally is just an Excel spreadsheet with ticker, company name, close on last day of prior year, close on last day of year, and % change. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

This provided me with a running graphic of the YTD % change--I was looking for something a bit more compact (% change between two user-selected dates), though I'd settle if I could take that indicator as a starting point, run it against a large set of stocks, and have it output to Excel as a table. Is this a reasonable thing to expect to be able to do? Actually, what I'd love to be able to do is run SQL queries against a database of historical stock info...
