Patrick, Is it possible to send alerts thru metastock with a different email client then microsoft outlook express? I was just wondering if metastock recommended another email client to use with its alert function. I keep getting email stuck in the outbox with outlook express.

Are messages configured to be sent immediately ? This can be verified by checking the "Send messages immediately" setting under Tools->Options->Send.

It should send based on your default mail client. If you have Outlook Express, the messages will 'hang' in the outbox until you are logged in OE, then it will send the messages. The fix is to keep OE running in the background.

Thanks Pat, I just looked at that software but it keeps wanting to re-write my MAPI32.DLL file to something else in order to send email thru. Then when I open Metastock I get an error message saying metastock had trouble log-in on MAPI32. #-o getting pretty confusing but the software looks great if you can get it to work. Any help?

What about the full version of Outlook? I use it without any problems with my alerts. However, I'd think the basics would be about the same as OE... strange.

No problem I found out about MAPI from that error message... G-stock, I think I'd rather leave outlook all together staying with them would be like adding good money to a loosing trade... From all the post I'm reading on the web its a problem that has been going on for years and Microsoft still hasn't fix it. I don't know what the problem is but its a for sure an outlook issue. Looks like support has ton of compliants about it. :( I'll keep looking I already dropped an email in Eudora forum hopefully someone can answer my question.

Patrick, A user from the "The Bat" forum did confirm what I thought- vvrabie Send E-Mail message Profile Posts: 3 Joined: 09/27/2005 By rewriting MAPI32.DLL it installs the MAPI handler. Thus MAPI gets handled by The Bat! It does a backup of the original MAPI32.DLL to MAPI32TB.DLL Any chance I can make Metastock compatible with this set-up?

Just wanted to close this post out if anyone was looking for a better email client then outlook. I just finished running test on Eudora to fully replace my Microsoft Outlook Express. Eudora works very well I didn't get 1 error nor did it miss any alerts. It works perfectly with the MAPI32.DLL from Microsoft. I used version Eudora_6.2.5.6, you can also use Lotus Notes 6.5-IBM Patrick can mark this post as resolved now. :D
