Hi: I have a big file of intraday data in ASCII format. The time format in ASCII format is this: 0935 0936 0937 0938 When I converted it using Downloader version 8, the time will shown in this way: 0:09:035 0:09:036 0:09:037 0:09:038 I try to convert it to other data format like EXCEL first, but still can't solved it. In EXCEL, the time will shown in this way: 935 936 937 When I format the cell into TIME, 00:00 will shown. Seems like I have to insert a : between the hour and minute, but I can't do it for a large numbers of record. Please help. Thanx in advance! :)

Hi buddy I will give you me guess of what is happening: Your time format is incompatible! You see the downloader expect the time format in this way: "Taken from the Help File of Metastock" ============================== The Time column in the data pane of an intraday security displays time in the HHMMTTT format, where HH is hour of day (using a 24-hour clock), MM is the minutes (0 to 60) and TTT is the tick count (0 to 999). =============================== What is happening here is that the downloader thinks it is 00:09 and the tick is 35, 36 etc. Based on this what you need actually is add the tick numbers. You can do this in Excel easily once while recording a macro to do the work for you on other files. Hope this works out for you, otherwise, you will have to wait and see if someone has better idea. Let me know if it works out for you. Best regards, Bulli

MetaStock FAQ wrote:
Intraday data with the Downloader How to download historical intraday data with the downloader? The Downloader is used for collecting historical EOD data. However, you can use it to set up a local intraday chart to collect current intraday data. These files could eventually build up the historical data, over time. There are a few draw-backs, there is a 14 character symbol limit, you cannot collect any history, as it has to be accumulated over time and if at any time you lose your internet connection you will have gaps in the data. You will need to create local intraday securities to collect the data. To create the local intraday files, follow the instructions below: -Start the Downloader, select FILE | NEW | SECURITY -Set the folder path to the location on the hard drive where you want to store and collect the data -Type in the name and symbol in the given sections -Set the Periodicity to intraday and set the interval to 1 minute (or the desired periodicity) -It will ask you if you want to create the folder. Click Yes. -Next it will ask if you want to select this folder for real-time updates, Click Yes.

Hey Buddy- The Downloader doesn't handle intraday data... even if you arrange the time information into some particular format. You can see what I mean if you go to your data on demand folder and open a security with the Downloader.

Hey g_stockman: I don't get it. I am sure Downloader can handle intraday data as I have using for about 2years... Just the ASCII data from Tradestation causing the problem at this moment...
