Hi.
I have my own data feed - a real-time bid-prices SQL database, exported as a cvs file at the end of each day. I 'd like to use Metastock for price-data history analysis. I'm planning to convert the cvs file to the Metastock format ( using the metastock commandline data format conversion utility).
Once again - I don't need any data-feed at all( we're downloading realtime market data directly to a database).
Now I need to know which version should I buy. As I see it, the end of the day version( the cheaper one) would be fully appropriate for me - provided it works (i.e. is able to handle) with intra-day files and not just the end-of-the-day ones.
So I'd like to know whether the only difference between the cheaper and the Pro version is the availability of real-time data feed or there are more differences - e.g. the cheaper one can't handle intraday metastock files at all.
Also I'd appreciate any information about a developer's kit for metastock - I've heard that It's no longer available. In fact, was It supplied directly with the Metastock product or was it a separate product ( with a separate price )?
Thanks a lot.

Hello Notus!
MS End of Day shouldn't be able to handle intraday info at all... strictly end of day. So you would need Pro if you wanted to look at real time data (regardless of source).
As far as the Dev Kit is concerned.. it is available. I know that the person that was handling new orders let a whole bunch of things slide.... hence he is no longer with Equis. Basically if you want the dev kit you go to our website and fill out a request. Someone processes your request and then contacts you about your order. My recommendation would be to call into the sales dept and talk to someone... that way they can follow it up for you and you have specific person to work with. Way easier to manage.
Hope that helps!

Hello Marilyn.
A few things has changed since I wrote my question( I'm just a (junior) programmer and my concept of what the trader actually needed was a bit confused).
So we have our data source, but we also need to figure out how we could feed Metastock Pro with them - and the trader wants the data feed to be realtime.
As far as I'm concerned this could be accomplished by using our own data server to Metastock - either written on our own(using the DevKit) or by someone else.
Thanks for your reply. We'll stick to the Pro version then.

Hey Notus-
You might not have to reinvent the wheel. If you are just wanting to use a 3rd party source, you might look into Metadata RT.

Now to MetaStock Pro.
Which one should we order ?
MetaStock Pro 9.1 for QuoteCenter - $1295
MetaStock Pro 9.1 for eSignal - $1695
MetaStock Pro 9.1 for QCharts - $1695
Because we'll have our own data feed, I think we should order the QuoteCenter version - It's the cheapest one. But in this case we are asked to order a data package($135/month), which we don't need at all.
So is there a possibility to order MetaStock Pro without any data subscriptions?
Or at leat could we cancel the QuoteCenter subscription after a month?

I think that is the best solution, however I would confirm with your sales guy just to be safe ....
