I tried to use search but it threw me out to Google search. This site is bit different to other sites, so an apology if this wish was already mentioned. Would be nice if charts were named with their letter code like DJS or XAO and not with internally created C[censored]x something. I suppose impossible to change it now, but thought I’ll ask anyway.

Hey George- Don't confuse Google Search with the Forum Search. You can access the latter from the topof the nav bar... or just click here: Forum Search.

hey george.... perhaps your browser is not filling the page.... g's link should bring up the forum search..... or at least it does for me.... on your orignal question, really not clear exactly what your refering to..... my meta versions show the full company name on the chart but you can rename to something else if need be..... or are you refering to quotecenter's use of the country code perhaps, such as 'us;csco'..... the country codes can be removed...... some of my folders contain the country codes and some do not......h

Hi Hayseed, Looks that my browser does not display everything. As to charts I refer to occasion when I open Shares Data with Windows Explorer All I have is individual Smart Chart Folders files with C[censored]x like my C92 I have to open the chart to see what it is. If the file name was the letter code, I would know what the chart is without having to open it. This way I could delete smart charts without having first to open them, to make sure that I do not delete something I want to keep. No big drama, as charts I work on have size 22k an larger, my basic chart has just 11k, so I click to sort out by the size and delete all 11k ones 20k and 21k size are ones with minimal notes, if I don’t feel like finding out what they are I just delete them too. Then I look at the larger size charts I did not open for a while, if I don’t need them they go too. So I have the elimination system, but it is cumbersome and takes more time than if I had Stock Letter Codes in a first place. And I have no idea how to delete Smart Charts from within the Metastock, that's why I use Widows Explorer.

hey george.... now your post is completly clear.... very few people will take the time to delete smart charts.... i see your thought and yes it would be clear to assign the ticker as opposed to a 'c' number.... the smart charts are referenced to the master or emaster files or perhaps both..... and as mentioned before the number is derived from the orginal folders make up..... i say 'orignal' because you can delete a security from the folder or move securities around in the folder but the smart chart numbers will not change..... alcoa, 'aa', will always be 'c1.mws' in my dow30 folder..... and 'dis' will always be 'c8.mws'.......h

The forum search link should be on the left side of your screen in the Navigation Panel under 'Site Navigation'. I see that it is confusing, so I'll see about getting it put back up on the top of the screen with 'home', 'forum' and 'log in/out'.

G_stockman, Thanks for 'Search' button, and sorry for trouble. I must be creature of habit, and after you mentioned where the original 'Search' button was, I found it too.
