Hi, I put a post up the other day to which you replied Patrick. I can't seem to find it on here now? Anyway, I asked about a fresh install of Metastock V9 EOD after a complete system reinstall. I had saved templates, charts etc. I had previously just cut and pasted them into the c drive equis folder, which replaced them. You Replied; Do not replace the file but import them To import them, start metastock and click on tools, indicator builder, organizer and select import formula, go through the prompts but when it asks you the location point it to your backup folder ( the folder that contains these files MS90EXPT. DTA MS90FORM.DTA MS70CTB.DTA MS90EXPL.DTA ) then click on ok or finish. It may ask you if you want to overwrite, click on yes. My qusetion is; Does this apply for the charts and expert folder? ie import rather than copy and paste into the c drive equis folder? Also, why is it better to import rather than copy and paste? And finally I notice you mentioned importing the 4 MS .dta files MS90EXPT. DTA MS90FORM.DTA MS70CTB.DTA MS90EXPL.DTA But what are the others? Do I import these also? COMMLIST EQ_SLIST EXPLORE ST_Data.mdb My ST_Data.mdb file in my back ups is much larger than the newly installed metastock one. Do I replace this also by import in the indicator builder? What is it anyway? And the EQ_List. Do I replace this as well? Many Thanks The Ghost

Charts and experts are different, just copy them ... It is better to import because thisway you start with a new clean file and "update" with the formulae you backep up. If you just copy the file it will work 90% of the time but you never know what can get corrupted ... COMMLIST EQ_SLIST EXPLORE ST_Data.mdb These do not need to be copied if you import your formulae properly, they need to be in the folder prior to you import but I would not copy them to the new install ... Especially ST_DATA.mdb This file contains a lot of your system tester simulations, formulae and etc ... but it is a very "sensitive file".
