I'm considering trading futures for the first time, but my stock broker does not handle futures. Which futures brokerages have a good reputation? I saw that TD Waterhouse will handle both stocks & futures and wondered about them, but I'm happy with my current stock broker and will not be transferring that part of my trading account no matter what, so I just need a good futures broker. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks TC! There is a lot of interesting info at the website you posted. Do you trade futures with them?

I am currently rolling my accounts into them. They are first runner up in stocks and commodities readers choice. The first place goes to www.tradestation.com Trade station you have to use their platform for a fee per year......

TC- It looks like Interactive Brokers uses only TraderWorkstation software for active trading. Is that right?

Hi. I'm based in the UK and have traded US futures for sometime now and currently use cytradefutures.com They have excellent day trading margin requirements plus very low contract specs - $500 per e-mini for me as a limey. Also look at cannontrading.com as their contract specs are $300 per e-mini for you lucky guys over that side of the pond. Both offer several order entry platforms and I use Jtrader (from patsystems, and not just because it's British built!) as this is the simplest of all as I mainly buy/sell at market. Execution speed is critical and Jtrader matches up to this without fail every trade I make. Trade well and happy broker/platform hunting, rgs, jrp.

I Suggest to go with XPRESSTRADE. This Firm knows the Futures Business very well. Have Very Good Trading Platform with Stability Simplicity and Special Kind of Futures Orders. Also have Friendly, Knowledge Stuff ready to Serve you 24 Hours Per Day. Also have Live Help with Live Chat. Another Thing is that have Informations for Futures for Free. Also Futures Charts for Free. Also you do not pay for their Platform any Fee like TradeStation. Another Important thing is their Integrity. Without Integrity does not exist Confidence. This Confidence that i have with this Firm i quiet believe that is the most important Asset to Trade someone with a Firm. I trade with them at least for 3 Years without to have any Problem. I suggest to take a look to this Firm in this Internet Address: www.xpresstrade.com Kind Regards, George Kanellopoulos.

Check out interactive brokers. I've been using them for 2 years Things I like: 1) Excellent professional platform (it does take a little getting use to but once you do, you're hooked) 2) great prices 3) good service 4) Reporting features (real time account updates) 5) Ability to costomize to your hearts content Things I don't like: 1) No mutual funds (but for most traders this is not a big deal) 2) Mark to market accounting reports for futures. It's hard to see if you're making money without some math. Each trade (buy or sell) has a market value and a sales value like normal. The prior entry has your original price and you must add/subtract from the prior entry. I use excel to figure it out. Well, that's about it! Happy trading

That's interesting BB. You alluded to this in the past, but I forgot to follow up. Interactive brokers has a high-pressure sales department. I requested more info from them a few months back and they won't quit calling and writing now. I figure they have a pretty good service, but let me take a breath! LOL!
