hey lcl.... to save a meta chart, right click on it and click copy.... then open ms paint, or some similar program.... click edit , then click paste.... it should paste your chart in it.... now under file choose save as.... name it and change 'save as type' to jpg, giff or png.....h

hayseed thanks a lot....you are cool 8:-) But the saved file has a very large dimension of 986 x 591, how to make it into a smaller chart? Thanks again!

hey lcl..... thats really not a large size but it is odd numbers.... the forum limits sizes to 800 x 600 i think... if thats where your headed, you'll need a image program capable of resizing to do it properly.... the best way to tell if you have one is to look in the folder where your picture resides, possibly 'my pictures'.... right click on your picture in that folder and highlight 'open with'.... there should be some suggestions to open with.... choose one like microsoft office picture manager.... whichever one you choose , look on the top tool bar, there should be a resize option under one of the main headings.... in microsoft office picture manager its under picture..... in jasc paint shop its under image ......there are quite a few programs, they will differ slightly but resize is what to look for, and you'll want to keep the width/height ratio the same..... lookin forward to seeing your charts if posting them is your goal......h

You could also post it into Word using Paste Special | Bitmap. Then you can just drag the corners of the picture to resize or double click the picture to bring up the picture editor and do whatever else you want. :D

Paint has a Stretch/Skew option that will allow you to reduce your image too. The only bummer is that it does it one side at a time... so you will reduce the height by 50% and then go back and reduce the width by 50%. It turns out alright in the end... :) M

come on!!! That's the hard way to make a image from your chart. This is the simple way. select your chart, click file and save as HTML, there you can choose between png or JPEG. Save it and you get 2 fitles, 1 html site and 1 image file :)

I have a question that expands a little upon the copying of charts. First of all, as a personal preference, the color of my chart background is black. When I copy and paste the background changes to white. Is there a way to get the background to remain black? If I do a print screen, of course it’s as shown; however, the MS border information is there.

Hey IR- What OS are you using? In WinXP SP2 this doesn't seem to be an issue. I retain all of the colors when pasting into a variety of programs. After right-clicking the MS chart, select copy. Then paste it into your program. I know that's probably redundant... sorry. Anyway, I've pasted into WordPad, Word, Paintshop, and Photoshop. Always, the background color is retained. Maybe you are trying to paste into a program that restricts you. Hmm...

Hey “g” man I am using Windows 2000 and was have this problem when copying into Word and Paint. It’s probably an undocumented feature of Windows 2000. Maybe I need to update to XP. Thanks for the explanation.

I remember Win2000 somewhat, but not enough to help from memory. One thing I can recall is that the screen capture worked OK: <ctrl+prnscn>. Perhaps you could get by with that and crop your full screen capture that way. Sorry... :(
