How would I write the formula for the slope of the moving average?

I suggest you have a look at http://forum.equis.com/viewtopic.php?t=933
then ask yourself, how do I define slope? By $ change over so many days? By % change over so many days? If you are looking to measure an angle - that isnt as easy, but ultimately, very do-able.
When following the guidelines in the link above, look for the rate of change indicator.

Check the Rate of Change function in metastock help.
You can eitheir use a % rate of Change or a points roc.
Hope you like the clue ;)

I've read the manuals, but that's not enough when beginning to program for MS ... this would be a whole lot easier if the metastock formula language had a shorter learning curve, but until then I'm having to learn by looking at examples from others. I've quickly picked up some of the other formula languages of other trading software, but not so easily on MS ... at least, for me.
