it did not escape me that the system 'pp :: CCI (Modified) ' , included with meta 9, will nearly always be the most productive when comparing system tests, nor did the trade exit efficiency which is excellent approaching suspicious nor did the provided system notes touting """DESCRIPTION: This system is a modification of the standard Equis Commodity Channel Index (CCI) System, and is only provided to demonstrate how PowerPivots can be used to improve & enhance other trading models."""".....
my first thought was, 'that’s a mighty bold statement there mr
marketangel.com'.... but keeping in mind the tree bearing fruit receives the most sticks and stones, i held back my mud slinging till looking deeper..... glad I did, both....
the 70 page manual itself suggests the difficulty in explaining power pivots citing, ' it is beyond the scope of this manual'...... its deep.... i spent several weeks slowly going through it, that included creating dozens of layouts and templates along with comparing countless system tests..... likely i'll spend that much more, however an experienced person could be trading within minutes.....
powerpivots plus comes with 13 password protected systems, 10 formula provided systems, 5 templates along with a hand full of indicators and functions..... each system has a companion expert and explorer..... the password systems can be modified to a degree, such as in the highlights, symbols and alerts which is helpful..... the wide open systems are just that, formulas provided, which is nice......
the basis of power pivots is turning points, finding, labeling and referencing those turns on
different time frames in order to trade in or out.... it uses extensive math along with every conceivable parameter to label the charts in a elliot wave like manner, not ewave just similar....
the needs of power pivots are a minimum 1000 periods of data, volatile securities with at least 1 point range between pivots and reasonable volume..... the manual suggested using 25$ securities at first but i quickly went though all prices levels
including atml ......
the pp systems use differing techniques but all use
pivots to identify
key points and compare different time frames..... this my take on them which may or may not be correct.....
1. binary pivots..... builds a binary wave by referencing minor, intermediate, major and primary trend.....
2.contrarian..... the overview is somewhat misleading..... trades against the trend but at key points only.....
3.cycle rotation..... trades with the trend key points.....
4. cycle rotation retracement..... uses fibonacci..... i'll say this only 1 time , if you believe in fibonacci or more to the point if you'll wager your money on it, this might be for you.....
5. five bar swing..... trend following with roughly speaking a 5 day ma....
6. 5 bar swing retracement..... uses fibonacci....
7. pivot clusters.... trend following at matching different time frames....
8. pivot takeout..... trend following at key breakout points....
9. pivot validation ..... looks for 2 higher time frames to confirm.... needs long trends to be worthwhile....
10. stochastic trend..... the name implies it all.... '''excellent method for trading with the trend''''.....
11. trend retracement.... not clear, possibly fibonccia.....
12. t-fade.... trend following at support/resistance key points....
13. volatility pullback..... uses fibonccia.....
this forum must have a length limit, so now page 2.....
