Does anyone know of a process or math function that yields a fast rise time for a value and then a slow decay?

In this case an input value goes from a positive value to a negative one (i.e. binary output / square wave) and I am looking for it to have an output that registers the new "step" value (or near to it) and then decay (approach zero) as time goes by.

I guess one way to look at it is the opposite of an Exponential Moving Average output. Any ideas would be appreciated that can be performed in MetaStock fml language. Thanks !
