I'm trying to move from MS 11 Pro to MS 12 Pro. I have the North/South America subscription, but also each day I look at daily and weekly charts for 6 futures contracts using delayed data. The problem is that continuous contract data in MS 12 Pro is not useful to me. In MS 11 the continuous contract data was contructed using the most active contract based on volume and open interest. In MS 12 it is always the front month, or the second month out, or third month out etc. There are futures symbols available in MS 12 Pro that are constructed using volume and open interest, but I've been told there isn't a delayed feed for them, and when I try to use them I get a message that I'm not authorized by the vendor for that data. Using Silver as an example, in MS 11 Pro, if you open a daily chart covering several months with the symbol us@SI (then choose continuous at the prompt), you can see that there is good volume across the chart. In MS 12 Pro, if you open three charts, SIc1 (front month continuous), SIc2 (second month out continuous), and SIc3 (etc.), you can see by the volume that almost all trading happens on the quarterly contracts, which are shifting between these 3 charts. None of these charts will give good indicators. The symbol in MS 12 Pro for the Silver continuous contract contructed by volume and open interest is SIvoi1, but again it is not availble to me. Since the MS 12 Pro marketing materials stated that all Metastock data not subscribed to is available delayed, I don't get why voi's were left out. Sorry for the long post. Anyone have any ideas? Mr. Slauson?
