-I'm trying to test position size strategies. I need to know how much risk i'm taking on my entry days and the day after. This is determined by my stop, which is the low of the day. I buy on the close and place a stop for the low of the same day. Unless i'm overlooking it, I don't see it on the EST results, it doesn't tell me where I had my stop. I was thinking there must be an indicator that will tell me the actual value,(in points, testing futures) of the (close-low). Perhaps there is an indicator that I can plot below that will tell me the numerical value. Then I could go back to each entry day and find the value of the indicator and then determine my position size.
I want to see my initial risk on each entry. I define my initial risk as the Entryclose-entrylow.
I'd like to know the range (close-low) , of the day after my buy as well.
I want to plug the data into excel after, determine position size, and then determine how equity changes with risk.
My idea is to define what % of my equity I'm willing to risk on each trade. Instead of putting a stop x% down from my buy, I rather change position size. Therefore controlling my risk with position size when a market becomes more volatile. My stop is not a fixed %. My stop is the low of my entry day. Which could be 5% or 1% from my buy. Although the stop is 5 % from the closing price, I dont have to risk 5% of my equity. I can determine this by how big my position is. EST shows the net profit from each trade. I need to know how much risk I took initially, by finding the value of the entryclose-entrylow.
Whats the most efficient way to do this? Do I have to manually go back to each entry and find the stop amount, then plug into excel trade after trade?
-Andrew

On the Buy and Sell system tester tabs, there is an input "Entry Size" -- this is where you can write some code to describe the number of units you want in this trade.
