I'm using Downloader 10.1 for my Reuters Datalink subscription.
On Equis website, there are 2 update files available, the Reuters DataLink Files, and the Symbol Database Files.
The Downloader itself has a "Update Symbol Database" in the tools menu.
What are the differences between the 3 update options?

Update symbol database is used to update the lookup list of symbols used by the downloader to create new local data files and by metastock to access online data.
The same symbol database is posted on our web site for those occasions when firewalls or other security software may interfere with the symbol database update.
We also have some supplemental symbol files posted for those users who may need them. These are separate because of limitations in the symbol database when it was origianlly created.
