Dan Valcu’s article “Making the Most of a Trend with the Disparity Index” introduces a new indicator and a screening method. Both can be added to MetaStock with the formulas listed below.

To enter this indicator into MetaStock:

1. Tools menu, select New to open the Indicator Editor for a new indicator.

2. x:=Input("Time Periods",1,500,20);

   100*(C-Mov(C, x, E)) / C

   5. Ok to close the Indicator Editor.

3. Tools > the New
4. Column A tab and enter the following formula.

Close

5. Col Name box and enter the text: “Close”.
6. Column B tab and enter the following formula.

x:= 200;

100*(C-Mov(C, x, E)) / C

7. Col Name box and enter the text: “DIX 200”.
8. Column C tab and enter the following formula.

x:= 50;

100*(C-Mov(C, x, E)) / C

9. Col Name box and enter the text: “DIX 50”.
10. Column D tab and enter the following formula.

x:= 20;

100*(C-Mov(C, x, E)) / C

11. Col Name box and enter the text: “DIX 20”.
12. OK to close the exploration editor.
