Whenever I run an exploration I get some charts using a different template to the default one I've specified- how do I make them all use the same template please?

The Explorer "Open Chart" button will always open the Smart Chart for the given security. The only way to "force" this to use the same template for all would be to save your default template the way you want, then clear out all previous smart charts (delete the MSSMART folder located inside any data folders you use).
Alternately, you can choose to Save the List of an Exploration report, then use File-->Open-->Options-->Open With Template to pick your template, then click on "Favorites" and open them this way.
