I recently purchased "Fire" from Adaptick for doing ERSA and broad market analysis. Though I was assured by the folks at Adaptick that it would work with any data that Metastock can read, I have not been able to get the data path configured to get this program to work with Premium Data. Does anyone here use Fire with Premium Data, and if so can you advise me on how to get it to work?
Thanks, Allen
edit added on 31 Dec 2007. I have gotten the Fire add-on to work (I had the data path set wrong and had to uncheck one of the boxes in the options pertaining to lists). At first blush, this utility functions smoothly and quickly with ERSA and BM indicators. It is quite versatile and will allow you to analyze any type of list. It also allows you to create a custom index from any list of stocks you have. Fire functions seamlessly with Premium Data.

Hi Allen
I use the ERSA component of SpyGlass with Premium Data. There shouldn't be any significant difference between that and FIRE although I'm a bit rusty on how I initially set it up. I update ERSA values for several Premium Data custom folders at the end of each week.

Thanks for your reply Roy. I got the ERSA scan to work, and I am tinkering with the broad market indicators. Have you used these successfully with Fire? Thanks, Allen

We haven't had anybody else report issues with ERSA analysis with either Spyglass or Adaptick's Fire with our data.
If you could post the exact steps you're trying to do, any error messages you see (or what you expect to see) that would help.
Cheers, Richard.

Thanks for your reply Richard. After tinkering a bit, I have the ERSA working alright and I have done a few broad market scans. I am still tinkering with these scans to make sure I have the correct data displayed. I am not sure this is what is happening though. I want to make sure I end up with BM indicators that are derived from the cumulative data for a given exchange, in cases where I want to compare an individual security to its respecive market.
Thanks again, Allen

The ERSA analysis works fine with my data. The breadth indicator tool, however, does not. It seems that this tool is set up to recognize the built in Metastock path of "Metastock Data\Breadth Indicators\(folder name); I am not sure how to set up the path so that I have an accurate display for any given BM indicator included with the FIRE add-on , whether it is for an exchange, an index, or a custom list. Any feedback will be appeciated.
Thanks, Allen

Hi Allen
I don't generally use the broad market tool in SpyGlass, but I have checked it out and had no problems that I can recall. Adding and removing folder pathnames seems to be very much the same as the ERSA procedure and not dependant on default pathnames. Have you tried removing all existing pathnames (folders) and browsing to your specific folders after clicking the ADD button? Presumably you would also need to tick the Subfolders box if using the A-Z folder format.
