Hi,

I have only been using MetaStock EOD 10 for a few days but have encountered a settings problems. When I place a Moving Average indicator for 50 days it is longer than the 200 day MA. The indicators seem to be working in reverse. For example the shorter the Time parameter the longer the line ..... bizarre !

Any ideas as to what have I set wrong?

Thanks,

Fearo

Fearo, that is the way it should work. The more periods you use to calculate an average, the less number of averages you can calculate with the same amount of data.

Thanks for the reply Oscar,

I initially thought you were "off your nut" [:$] but actually now I am beginning to see the light. The penny finally dropped ..... it just had a very long way to go.

Thanks for that.

hey fearo..... how many bars are you loading on each chart.... the lines will be different in begining points as relative to the periods.... ie, the 100 takes twice as long as the 50 before you see any line plotted.... but you would have to look way back in time to notice that fact...... unless your loading a small number of bars, say for instance only 110.....

from a highly technical sense, the more bars loaded in the chart the more accurate the indicators will be..... this is very apparent when running explorations and not loading enough bars or records.....

side note, wabbit's dll has a function that should start moving averages from bar 1.... using it will make all moving averages the same length..... h
