I recently had need to re-install Metastock, but when I went to use "The Explorer", or the 'System Tester" or the "Indicator Builder" they were all empty.
I have looked for folders that might contain them, but all to no avail.
Can someone tell me if they exist and how I point the programme in the right direction to look for them, or, if they do not exist, where and how do I install them? Can I do a custom install from the original discs?
I am confused because I would have thought that they would have been installed automatically when I did the original installation/re-installation.

hey sydman..... seems like i remember your using one of the 7 versions..... i'm not familar with the early versions but can't think of any reason it should install differently than the v9 and up..... sounds like for some reason you just have an incomplete reinstall....
is your operating system windows xp by any chance..... if so you can use system restore to possibly reinstate the meta folders from prior installation.....
here is the makeup of v9 folder...., run your mouse over each item for description.... your v7 should be similar.....
the indicators, explorations and such are not in real folders but in dta files like,
formulas ==== C:\Program Files\equis\MetaStock\MS90FORM.dta
explorations ======= C:\Program Files\equis\MetaStock\MS90EXPL.dta
your dta's will be your version number...... possibly 70 ..... holler back if things don't work out......h

The problem might be that the Windows Registry did not properly update when installing.
In the Windows Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Equis\MetaStock X (Version number)\File Paths, there should be a FormulaFiles registry key with a path to wherever you installed MetaStock, i.e. C:\Program Files\Equis\MetaStock.

I have been away for a few days so only just logged in to see your responses.
Hayseed, you must have the most amazing memory, because yes, you are right on all counts. The link to the interactive folder display is brilliant. I learnt a lot from that.
Thank you too Pyradius. I haven't fully explored your suggestion yet, but I will be doing do shortly.
Thank you both, I am really grateful.
