Does anyon know what might be wrong?
I have made a sym file in the downloader directory, but only one day bar shows in the chart? I am subscribing to eSignals indtraday data with European stocks.
I have made a custom symbol list (sym file)of stocks from Oslo Stock Exchange. The custom made symbol list with US stocks works fine? so what can be wrong?
Example of what I have written in the sym file:
Norsk Hydro ASA, NHY-OSL, OSE
But i only get one bar in the metastock chart.
If anyone know how to fiks it, please respond.

Unfortunately eSignal stores the historical data for these on a server we cannot connect to. This is why you get a live bar and nothing else. The only way you can get historical data is with Local Intraday Files. These are cumbersome to maintain because you do not start with any history. You must build the historical data on your PC over time. Local Intraday files are created via the DownLoader, and when you say Yes to the message "Would you like this folder to be configured for real-time updates" it passes this folder to the MetaStock File Server. The MetaStock File Server will then attempt to collect the ticks of data and build up history. You must keep the MetaStock File Server running during market hours or you will get gaps in the data, meaning if you have to reboot, or your internet service goes down, there is no way for you to fill in this information other than manually.
I believe that eSignal has options to export their data to a .CSV which you could then convert into our format to get some initial history. You could probably also use this CSV to fill in any gaps in the data if problems occur.

Thank you! That make sense because I had trouble to collect intraday data as well from the international servers, however that was solved by a friend of mine who made a dll file. Is it possible to solve these problems with a dll file as well? I am really not keen on using local intradaydata with all the fuzz that comes along keeping it up to date.

hey bozz.... it'd be difficult to say why one sym file would work and another not without seeing them....
in case there is ever a need, you can instantanously create intraday local data files that will hold all the historical data available from esignal...
briefly,,,,... first create a intraday file, lets say 'csco' and set periodicity to 60 minutes.... now open a realtime 60 minute chart of 'csco' and right click on the price bars.... select copy..... now open the data sheet for the 'csco' 60 minute chart you previously created and paste in the data.... it will fill the data sheet....
it might sound too involved and the first time might be a roller coaster but by the third time it will be a walk in the park....
pyradius is correct, maintaining intraday files is a pain unless you have a secure, stable and always on internet setup....h
