How do I use signal from index to trigger signal for securit

Have been trying to find a way to use a market index system (i.e SOX or DJIA) to trigger signals for securities. Example:
When my system for the index is positive I would like to make that signal (buy or sell) to be the primary variable for signaling a buy / sell in another system that works with the my database of 1200 securities. If my DOW signal is positive - only then should the exploration run - otherwise not. The same goes for systems tester. Only when my DOW indicator is positive should the system issue buy or sell on the secutiry being tested. What I want is a way to use the buy/sell of one security/index to be a variable in the system/exploration of another. Is there anyone out there who knows a way to do this ?? Any help appreciated....Thanks

That should be fairly easy, simply use the securtiy function to refer to the index and then I would suggest you create one expert for each index you want to use ... Check the security function in the Manual or the MetaStock Help Files.
