“you can lose yourself in pleasure 'til your body's going numb
but will it ever be enough? you know that it'll never be enough
you can always take whatever you conceivably could want
but will it ever be enough? you know that it'll never be enough”, from "original sin"..... meatloaf was singing about sex, guns and rock and roll but the same affliction applies to trading.... the inability to know and say its enough.....
metastock properly applied and followed can help in that area.... henry had a good suggestion some time back that involved using binary waves to represent buy/sell rules..... i've spent some time converting many rules to waves.... if we trade heavy when all the waves are aligned and go light when their not it might improve the yearly returns.....
meta has a 10 inner window limit..... that’s more than a sufficient number when using standard indicators..... binary waves don’t use nearly as much room and being just true/false don’t need much.... removing the title bar gives us a little more area and putting 6 similar theme waves in each window can also be a useful trick..... its not so much that more is better but rather efficient use of available space....
the waves can be made into ribbons easy enough.... Fml("7.1")>Ref(Fml("7.1"),-1) and Fml("7.1")<Ref(Fml("7.1"),-1) are one of those waves in the picture..... the > is green and the < is red, both are set in histogram style so the ribbon is created.....
so there it is , another thanksgiving another turkey.... my dang lexus drivin brother feels its impossible to consistently beat the s&p, he's been reading a book from the 40's.... his sole proof is that so few funds do..... that’s an unfair comparison.... a fund manager might have metastock and quotecenter yet not have the latitude to sell it all when the macd crossed down.... even if they had permisson the size of their trades would wreck the market..... they have regulations, guidelines and formats that we don't and heavy outflows seem to come at the worst of times....
small investors have no strings attached .... we're free to make some rules test and follow them..... but we should keep in mind if metastock says its enough and we still try to take one more bite out the apple, sooner or later there’ll be hell to pay..... perhaps in the form of a little roast piggy layin beside that turkey next year..... with a partial apple included......h
