In Metastock, candle sticks work this way: If the Open is greater than the Close, the bar will be full If the Close is greater than the Open, the bar will be hollow The confusion comes from the fact that users set a up and down color on the price bars. As you have done it, people will use green for "up" days and red for "down" days. When you set the up and down price you are telling the software to color a bar green when the current close is greater then previous close and to color a bar red when the current close is less than the previous close. As you can see it's not doing the same thing whatsoever. The reasons behind it .... Well I understand that most new software will color bars differently and that it is now ok to do this, but at first when candlesticks started it was only a full bar or an empty bar, so that's how metastock has it ... I don't think it's a big deal once you now how it works. Hope this helps. Patrick
