George, the hardware is not anywhere nearly as important as the software - this goes for both machines and humans. ;)
The online seminar PDFs look interesting at thinkorswim.com, but my trading experience doesn't cover trading spreads, ETFs and options, so i can't offer any advice here. I suspect that since you'd be trading against (almost entirely) professionals, you'd better know what you are doing before you begin trading.
