Can you experienced users help with 2 simple questions: 1) I assume favorites is the way to create a tracking list of securities or a portfolio or buy list to ollow and test- is there an easy way to enter long lists of symbols without looking up each one, hitting enter etc- can you enter a bunch in a string with commas etc to simplify when creating favorites lists etc? 2) Just started with MS yesterday- when doing charts, i am going to the long alfabetized list of securities, picking the right group (A-B etc), finding it, clicking on the security- the securities selection steps seem pretty clunky- is there a good reason for keeping the alfabetic breakdown or can i put all us securities in a single folder A-Z for quicker selection without causing other problems? Thanks

Was thanked: 1 time(s) in 1 post(s)
1) Create a custom symbol file, you will find answers in the metastock faqs about it ;) 2) Only keep in mind that the limit per folder is 6000 securities ... Patrick

hey kadip..... the favorites folder is just a convenient location to store charts and also included in meta is the method to quickly place them there..... your correct, most will find it useful to have addtional folders of their design..... you didn't mention which market your trading.... here in the states with so many etf's it helps to create specific folders in addition to the alpha ones.... and of course for the blood thirsty individual that likes to walk on the wild side, a folder of optionable securities is handy.... the steps might be sticky at first , was for me, but soon it'll be a breeze..... patrick posted sym file steps for creating custom folders..... and again you didn't mention your market, but here are some of the US.... click on the links for the text files or right click and save to your downloader..... holler back if ya don't follow....h
