Hello

What is the way to create a new folder file of the exploration result in MSLEGACY format.

1.I have explored 2000 instruments.

2.The result I got is of around 500 instruments.

3.I want to create a separate MSLEGACY folder file of these 500 instruments.

I am unable to do it.

Can anyone guide ...

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

There is not an easy way to do this, but I have written up some suggestions to see if this process could be simplified.

Currently, in order to do this you must do the following:

  1. Right-click on your exploration results and choose Copy All
  2. Open a spreadsheet (such as Excel or Google Sheets) and press Ctrl-V to paste the results
  3. Use Ctrl-H to find and replace the prefix on the instrument (i.e. Find D_ and replace with nothing)
  4. Highlight the symbol column (you may want to delete the top row first to ignore the Symbol header) and press Ctrl-C to copy this column
  5. In the MetaStock Power Console double-click on the Custom Online Data Lists
  6. Give the list a name and right-click in the large empty box at the bottom and click Paste then click Save
  7. Open DownLoader
  8. Click the "Add" button and navigate to the location you want to create the securities in
  9. Click the "New Folder" button, give the folder a name and click "Select Folder"
  10. Choose "Legacy" for the data type
  11. Right-click on the newly created folder and choose "Create new security..."
  12. Select the "Multiple Selections" checkbox and click the "Look-up" button
  13. Expand the Custom Online Data Lists group and place a checkmark next to your newly created Custom Online Data List then click "Select"
  14. Adjust Interval/First Date/Units as desired and click OK
  15. Select the checkbox next to your new data folder and click "Download..."

I have made a couple improvement requests, to either allow the Copying of a Security directly (similar to the "Copy all checked" functionality in DownLoader), or to allow a user to create securities from a Local List if that is not possible.
