Error: 'Unable to install Windows service' - Metastock 11 running on Vista x64

I know that this error has been discussed before, but I can't find a solution that works for me.
I have tried the following..........
1. In Control Panel/Administrative
Tools/Services/AST is set to Automatic, but is Stopped. If I click Start I get 'Error 1717: The
interface is unknown'
2. In Control Panel/Administrative Tools/ if I
double click Event Viewer I get the message: 'Event Log service is
unavailable. Verify that the service is running.'
Any idea how I can fix this problem? I'd really like to start using the program! :-)

Any chance of some feedback on this?
Is there not enough information in my original query?

I had the same problem. Called MS support and they emailed me a link to a file that fixed the problem. It is a known issue. It only takes a minute to fix the thing but you might want to have MS support on the line to talk you through it. Hope this helps.
