does anyone know how to avoid the delay when metastock (v6.52) or the associated downloader start up?

I don't know how to avoid it, it might be a setting in the registry but quite honestly I doubt that it's worth the trouble. It is not the splash screen making the app slow but rather the connections it tries to make in the background ... Maybe someone has a different answer Patrick

I agree with Patrick- the splash screen isn't slowing things down. However, there are ways to stop the splash screen from popping up, if that is your goal. Then you can prove to yourself it doesn't speed up the loading. The easiest way is to d/l the free utility SplashKiller. I tested it on MS9 and The Downloader. No splash screens :D Available at: http://www.digitallis.co.uk/pc/downloads/SplashKiller.zip

Hey.... I've been making the splash screens for the next generation of software. They took me forever! :) You have to look at them at least once [-o< please???

A lot of different applications give you a choice in the options area to disable the splash screen... MS doesn't. I see both sides of this one. Anyway, now that I know the nextgen artist, can I have my splash screen autographed? :P
