Released 03/30/2001
20+ years of Reuters data available through leader in market analysis software
SALT LAKE CITY, March
30, 2001 - Today marks the beginning of a new era in technology for
professional and institutional investors as a new software application,
Reuters MetaStock® Professional, makes its debut. Reuters
MetaStock Professional is a total solution for charting and technical
analysis of market data. With this release, it becomes the first leader
in market analysis software to be compatible with the Reuters Data
Backup Unit (DBU), allowing for seamless integration and charting of
the wide-ranging historical Reuters data stored in the DBU.
Equis®
International, Inc. (a Reuters company, NASDAQ: RTRSY), the maker of
Reuters MetaStock Professional, has produced award winning technical
analysis software for 17 years. However, this is the first software
release that is compatible with the DBU. Running side by side on the
same desktop, Reuters MetaStock Professional perfectly complements the
data displays, news and analytics found in Reuters 3000 Xtra and other
Reuters applications.
"We've made a perfect match with the Reuters DBU and MetaStock's DataOnDemandTM
technology," says Equis president and CEO Allan McNichol. "MetaStock
Pro's DataOnDemand data retrieval technology allows a trader quick and
easy access to the vast amount of data in the DBU, enough for the
deepest and most serious analysis." And, he says, MetaStock is fully
prepared to perform the rigorous technical analysis that top-level
traders need for their high-pressure decisions.
Seamless Integration: DataOnDemand and the DBU
DataOnDemand
is a technology designed by Equis for quick retrieval of market data
stored on the Internet with other versions of MetaStock. Now, in
Reuters MetaStock Professional, it has been applied to allow traders
on-demand access to data that has been stored to a local or shared DBU.
"The
integration between MetaStock and Reuters data is smoother than ever
before," notes product manager Paul [censored]sh. Whenever traders enter a
Reuters Instrument Code (RIC), they get a chart based on data from the
Reuters feed. It even allows access to instruments they have been
following with other applications-equities, futures, indices, foreign
exchanges, economic indicators, and more. In other words, any history
built with the Reuters DBU will be accessible in Reuters MetaStock
Professional.
Reuters MetaStock Professional allows traders to
retrieve up to 20 years of daily history (and over 10,000 ticks) of the
instruments they have been following. They can also retrieve data in
increments of one minute, five minutes, one week, and more. In
addition, traders can access the Reuters DBU for current real-time and
intraday data for nearly every major exchange in the world that they
have permissioned.
Professional-Level Analysis Power
Reuters
MetaStock Professional also offers power and speed for analyzing data
gathered from the DBU, creating an advantage for professional traders
in their competitive arena. Its features include:
Flexible charting with favorites folders for easy organization; SmartChartsTM
so that important changes are never lost; individual chart toolbars;
customizable templates and layouts; and 9 different razor-sharp
charting styles
Over 120 line studies and indicators, including Ichimoku
Kinko, Linear Regression, Moving Average (7 variations), Stochastics,
MACD, Relative Strength Index, and more.
Indicator Builder and
Function Library for creating user-defined or proprietary analysis
tools; System Tester for testing theories on historical data; Expert
Advisor for automated pop-up commentary, alerts and more; and The
ExplorerTM, which screens, scans, and ranks thousands of instruments.
