I just upgraded from Metastock 7.2 to 9.0. There appears to be something rather strange with the Explorer speed. When I start a search on 8,000 stocks the Explorer appears to pause for up to 6 mins minutes before starting the search. I have tried on 4,000 stocks as well, and the Explorer appears to pause for around 3 mins before starting the search.
Is there something I am doing wrong perhaps, or is this a known issue with version 9?

Explorations in MetaStock 9 are slower but it should not be that bad.
Make sure you are not exploring online data but local data.

Equis tech support was very helpful and sorted me out. The issue was that the Favourites was corrupted in some way. I deleted the old Favourites, and started fresh. The speed is now fine.

Would you mind sharing the technique for clearing out the Favorites? My system is showing some delay, though it's not nearly as pronounced as what I've seen mentioned here.

There is a file called favorites.dta located in :
C:\program files\equis\Metastock.
Delete it ... but you will loose all your favorites.
